The man emerging from Shen Wei’s apartment wasn’t Shen Wei. (Set just before episode 8.)

Shen Wei was with Zhao Yunlan eating together in his office because he have a break from the job, and Yè Zun décide to bother them.
Because he likes to bother them.

But this time it's will have the repercussion of his life with the person with who he is.

Doctor Zhao Yunlan leads an archaeology expedition to a hitherto uninvestigated set of well-preserved abandoned buildings. The biologist contingent is very interesting. As are the buildings. And the artefacts they hide within them.

As government events went, Da Qing had been to worse. As far as parties went, though, it was abysmal.

The front door closes, Yurong’s footsteps recede, and Lu Wenyi, sitting at the kitchen table, finds herself truly alone for the first time in weeks. (A companion piece to All the Colours of the World.)

"Hey," Zhao Yunlan says, hopping off the table so he can gather Shen Wei into a proper embrace, rubbing a hand between Shen Wei's shoulder blades. "Hey, it's okay. There's nothing there."

Shen Wei wasn't sure when he would come back to Haixing, if at all. There's some major changes around the SID, the Chief has changed, and Zhao Yunlan, the love of his life, is nowhere to be found.

Shen Wei blinks at him, parts his lips on the start of a reply that turns into a cough and folds down the rest of the way until he’s listing against Zhao Yunlan. “It doesn’t hurt,” he says, distantly.

Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan got married a few years later they ended up being parents to five amazing children, how this came to be, well you'll have to read this won't you?
