Zhao YunLan lives his new life as the wick of the guardian lantern. Every day, he burnt mercilessly inside the lamp so that he can provide a better life for the DiXing people.

Until one day, an unusually beautiful comet passing him. Zhao YunLan recklessly makes wishes, which are brought into reality.

But what going to happen if every wish has its consequence?

If Shen Wei had any regrets about that little human life he had built for himself in Longcheng as a university professor, he certainly hid it from himself most of the time. On nights like that, where the incessant rain and dense mist made the air even colder and the streets even quieter, it was somehow difficult not to think about what had once been.
This night was just like many nights before, where Wu Xie wandered the streets, uncaring of the rain that slowly seeped through his clothes. Hoping just maybe it could sink all the way into his soul.

At the exhibition, Zhao Yunlan gazed intently at the arts before him, the snow-capped mountains, the ethereal landscapes, the birds on branches, the peonies and koi.
The huge green tree with strong roots. The blossoming plum tree.
It was as if those images were photographs of things he had seen a long time ago, and that still remained vivid in his memory.
He needed to see the artist.

Long black hair, black silk crumbling off, pale skin, not a hint of rot. They were pinned by some sort of sword or dagger to the base of the mechanism into a standing position. He looked… they looked alive? They were beautiful, breathtakingly so. A straight, high nose, black eyebrows like they had been painted by an artist's hand, and long, long eyelashes.

Wu Xie swallowed. He was straight! He liked women! He… thought this person was one of the most attractive people he’d ever seen. Next to Xiao Hua and Xiaoge of course. Top three, definitely.

Their lips looked soft, with the barest blush of pink and Wu Xie… really wanted to kiss them. He was by himself, the memory of the monster far behind him. No one would have to know. He leaned in, lips brushing the dry ones of the corpse-

And the corpse sighed.

Li Qian has never seen anything like it.

It is extraordinary.

or, five times when Shen Wei’s students think there is something strange about their professor, and one time when he’s just startlingly human.

Shen San was just a man. Under the plum tree, his tombstone told a little story that perhaps only a broken-hearted poet and an enlightened-hearted monk could decipher. The characters engraved next to his name were in a shape as beautiful as Shen Wei's calligraphy flowing from brush to paper.
This was the first time that Shen Wei had come here with a different appearance than Shen San had known.
"I have little time left but I decided to start another life in the human world, it's been a while since the last time. In your time, you said to me 'you are young but completely adult, so what?' before you were sure that I was much older than you had imagined.”
About making a different decision this time, the last time, the only person Shen Wei had to ask for advice was Shen San - even though his words could only exist in Shen Wei's heart.

Lin Jing was not always lucky in that Department. He had many thoughts, many suspicions and usually talked too much - but not about that. Never about that. He didn't know if this was his lucky or unlucky day in that matter.

"What are they doing?" The question from the young Ghost King wasn't a surprise; he was endlessly curious, and Kunlun found himself indulging even the most foolish queries more often than not. What was a surprise was that this time, Kunlun himself wasn't sure.

It is always worse when the Guardian is born either too high or too low in society.

"You don't have enough bodies, do you?" Shen Wei asks. Just arriving, he'd glanced briefly at notes on their improvised whiteboard and made this entirely too astute observation. 

Still, Zhao Yunlan isn't one to pass up an opportunity, so he says, "What would I want more bodies for, I have a great one already. You think so too; last night you—" 

"Chief!" "Lao Zhao!" A chorus of groans echoes around the room from his subordinates, but it's worth it for the faint blush that colors Shen Wei's cheeks and the rather more pronounced scowl as he glares at Zhao Yunlan.

Zhu Jiu watches from behind a tree across the street, frowning deeply. It had been such a good plan. He'd been careful, and it had been very close to the perfect crime. The local authorities hadn't noticed a thing, not even after he'd had the scheme going for months.

Lin Jing's call was garbled. "…weird—something, it's not human, or not anymore—" He described what he'd found in the abandoned village full of statues and strange tunnels.

Tonight, Shen Wei is abandoning all of Aoguang’s laws and heading towards the shore, for the second time in his entire life.

Thanks to Shen Wei, Su Wan gets some unusual feedback that his training is progressing well. Possibly too well.

Chu Shuzhi stepped into the office, closing the door behind him and then leaning against it. "It's getting worse," he said, not waiting for any sort of acknowledgment. He was too worried to let introductory courtesies divert them into smalltalk.

One more hour of sleep and perhaps Shen Wei would realize that Wu Xie was right. Furthermore, even from a distance, he could still pamper Zhao Yunlan a little more.
He was changing. If he hadn't already, without realizing it before.

Shen Wei copes with the ten thousand years that never happened. Zhao Yunlan helps him.

Wang Meng lived in a constant state of being so done with his laoban. But nothing was so bad that it couldn't get worse. Even if he had a fancy western restaurant to pretend he could relax for a few hours.
