I had so much fun making the first set that I wanted to try out a different variant... and then I liked how this pair came out so much I decided to share these too!

Zhao Yunlan's carefully-laid romantic plans are disrupted by a simple mistake on the part of Xiao Guo, but that isn't much of a problem. What is a problem is the fact that now he has to figure out how to talk to his father about this next chapter of his life.

While investigating the disappearance of his mother and trying to avoid the attention of the Black Cloaked Envoy, 17 year old Zhao Yunlan tracks down Shen Wei working in an antique bookstore in the hopes of getting answers to questions about a mysterious inscription in several books his mother left behind.

Finally Zhao Yunlan said, his voice still low, “Why do you love me, Shen Wei?”

It was a question he’d asked before, sometimes lightly, jokingly, sometimes seriously, like now. Shen Wei never knew quite how to answer.

Zhao Yunlan never expected that, when he finally learned Shen Wei’s secret, it would feel like this.

Zhao Yunlan thought of himself as a capable detective. He knew they had a shared past that Shen Wei wasn’t telling him, one that for some reason, he couldn’t remember. It made Zhao Yunlan nervous. Shen Wei cared about him too much, gave him too much, sometimes looked at him like he was a revered god instead of the twenty-eight-year-old mess of a man that he was, with his ratty shirts and pockets full of candy wrappers. It made him wonder what he was supposed to — and likely failing to — live up to.

In the ancient past, Shen Wei learned to cook in the hope of impressing Kunlun. Ten thousand years later, he finally got the chance.

Or... the one where Shen Wei cooks for the people he loves.

Shen Wei has a new hobby. Of course, it involves Zhao Yunlan.

Zhao Yunlan doesn’t remember the last time his father hugged him.

To be fair, he doesn’t remember anything that happened more than a year ago, thanks to the convenient drift-related incident, but from what he’s experienced in the last 12 months, he’s pretty sure hugs weren’t a regular part of their relationship.

The thing was, as competent as Zhao Yunlan’s team was (not that he’d ever mention it to them), for many years there had only been six of them, and two of them didn’t really leave the office. This meant that sometimes Zhao Yunlan had to handle cases by himself, even if they weren’t always the safest.

The day Shen Wei meets Kunlun for the first time.

Shen Wei has been adamant about making Zhao Yunlan's meals for weeks, now — ever since Ye Zun almost completely drained Zhao Yunlan of his life energy.

Zhao Yunlan finds out why when he walks in the kitchen and finds Shen Wei with a knife dripping blood.
