“I would die for him,” Shen Wei whispered, his tone calm and even, a sharp contrast to the intensity of his words. There was no denying the amount of devotion that seeped into his voice. “I would kill for him.”
Chu Shuzhi knew just as much, but politely didn’t point it out. Having witnessed first-hand said promise in action – Ye Zun and Da Qing’s ex-girlfriend could attest to that –, and worked for him before that, he had sworn to do everything in his power to never question Shen Wei’s judgement.

Zhao Yunlan is accosted by the villainous trio. Proceedings are interrupted by a goose falling from the skies, the plot is derailed with honking, and Zhao Yunlan discovers a deep-seated loathing of goose poop.

...and the story was based on the truth as its teller knew her. And as each story is told to an audience, the audience can discover the discrepancies in the truths presented.

The portal yawned and disgorged him onto a city street. He landed heavily, face-down, panting, and struggled up onto his elbows, gulping for air, fighting to suppress the cough still lodged in his body. The night was chill. His hair tangled around him like a net. He was alone again, and his illness, the bane of his childhood, was tightening his chest. It was almost laughable how pathetic he was, he who had amassed such dreadful powers, who’d held the fate of the world in his palm just minutes ago.

Professor Shen's attention snapped back to her. "Jiajia," he said, very quietly. "We need to get inside."

Shen Wei has no idea how Zhao Yunlan ended up spread over the table like this.
