The glasses boy trembled but defiantly held his head high. “Go away. I won’t give it to you.”

Fury flashed across the tall kid’s face, and he reached out to grab whatever was in the other boy’s hands.

That was enough for Yunlan.

Yunlan is NOT happy to be dropped off at daycare. That is, until he makes a new friend.

Zhao Yunlan is used to work undercover. This time, the place is the Ghost Tribe, a bar in the grimy part of Dragon's City which serves as safe haven for criminals. Investigating the possible involvement of the bar owner with his customers' criminal's affairs, he sees himself being dragged by his feelings for Shen Wei, the ruler of Ghost Tribe. Instead of cleaning the place, he's falling in love, helplessly.
Or: Zhao Yunlan, you had ONE job.

At the crossroads, somewhere between the worlds, there is a coffee shop.
It didn’t use to be one, not initially, but what started out as a teahouse had to evolve, to accommodate changes. Of course, in some realities, it is still a teahouse. In others – a tavern. In even more distant ones, it is perceived as something else entirely, but at its core, it is a place of encounters. Of meetings, planned and auspicious, anticipated and accidental.

"Do you know Zhang Yuan?"

"Zhang... Oh, do you mean that guy who pretends to talk to people's dead relatives for money? I wouldn't say I know him... But I did hear he accused someone of murder."

Life is a strange beast. One moment you're going along fine, the next you're not. Sometimes you see a person you knew years ago and they've completely changed, sometimes you happen to meet someone totally new.

This is one such story. Two strangers and a promise made long ago. A story of healing and new beginnings.

He probably should have brought back-up with him. Scratch that, he should definitely have. Shen Wei is going to be very mad at him, so mad, but that’s a thought for later. Right now, Zhao Yunlan needs to survive the hellish sight that’s before him.

Post-canon ending fix-it (mostly drama canon-compliant!)

Zhao Yunlan is gone, Shen Wei is gone, the portals seem to be closed forever, and the surviving SID are coping, over a year and a half later when the phone starts ringing

" You won't be able to see the illustration sitting that far." Zhao Yunlan said normally. Hand still at Shen Wei's small waist. The hand slowly moved on his shoulder as he needed it to open the book, completely guarding Shen Wei inside his arm. 

Shen Wei's whole body stiffened under Zhao Yunlan's casual movement. Feeling heat where Zhao Yunlan ran his hands through, smelling the mild sweetness of lollipops around Zhao Yunlan. Shen Wei ducked his head, hiding his face as he felt his fragile heart beating frantically. 

Calm down. Shen Wei told himself. Just a little skinship and Shen Wei almost went off control of himself. It would not do him any good if Zhao Yunlan noticed his reaction. 

Footsteps draw near, unhurried. You cannot move, to see. You are vulnerable, so vulnerable...

With a Dixingren father on the run and a young Haixingren woman exerting her right to refuse motherhood, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan find themselves an armful of baby(ies). As part of the Black Cloaked Envoy's and the Lord Guardian's duties, of course. Nothing else. Zhao Yunlan is definitely not melting over the sight of Shen Wei with a newborn cradled close to his chest.

Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan both fell in love at first sight- ten thousand years apart.

In which Shen Wei has a set of wedding hanfu and Zhao Yunlan buys a house.
